Lubuli Primary school students and their teachers settling down for the Ash Wednesday Prayer service

Sr. Rosa took the lead in conducting the Eucharistic prayer service, a significant part of the visit. Her words were filled with reverence as she guided the students and teachers through this sacred moment. In addition to the prayer service, Sr. Rosa explained the meaning of the Lenten season.

Lent is a period of 40 days leading up to Easter, observed by Christians all over the world. It is a time for reflection, penance, and preparation for the celebration of Easter.
— Sr. Rosa Sousa, MSC

Sr. Rosa highlighted three key aspects of Lent, which are: Prayer, lent encourages believers to deepen their relationship with God through prayer and seeking guidance, express gratitude, and find comfort in faith. Repentance, this season calls for self-examination and repentance. It is a time to acknowledge one’s shortcomings and seek forgiveness, encouraging spiritual growth and renewal. And lastly but not least almsgiving, this involves acts of charity and kindness towards others. She encouraged the students and the teachers to help those in need, emphasizing compassion and generosity.

By explaining these significances, Sr. Rosa provided the students and teachers with a deeper understanding of the Lenten journey and its importance in their spiritual lives. The visit was not only a religious observance but also an educational moment, enriching everyone’s faith and understanding.
