We bring the love of Jesus

to the ends of the Earth

Fourth Sunday of Lent Reflection

Today’s Gospel, Jesus narrates the story of the prodigal son. From the story, we find how the behavior of the younger son was strange, because of the way he thought about worldly thing and how he asked his father to give him his share of his property and he gathered all he had and left from home to a far away country. Maybe he was thinking that, why do I need a father? If I have enough money, I can do whatever I like with my life.
I will have a new life, I will have new friends and also enjoy my wealth. He thought, but this was all his superficial wisdom, leading him into big trouble. He lost all that he had, he was hopeless, helpless and miserable. It was very painful for his father, because the son had spent so many years with his father and had not yet discovered the love of his father. But finally, he realized that the new life of enjoyment and new friends did not help or save his life.
Sometimes we are like the prodigal sons and daughters in our daily life, we do so by distancing ourselves from God. He is inviting us to be open, to draw ourselves back to Him and ask him to forgive our sins just like the prodigal son did with his father. We must be a willing to start a new life and to make a new relationship with our loving God. we also have to accept the responsibility to
live this Covenant.
So, in this Lenten season, it is very important for us to remember his unconditional love and mercy. Even if we are distant from him, he approaches us at each moment with love and in love. Thank you, Jesus, for the gift of your presence and your love, especially the way you are always waiting to embrace us and to welcome us as your sons and daughters whenever we go astray. Amen.
