New pastoral ministry with children kicks off at St. Frances Cabrini outstation, Eswatini
The MSC community in St. Philips started a new pastoral ministry with children at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini chapel, an outstation of St. Philips, Eswatini. The program, started at the end of August 2024, aims to cultivate a nurturing environment where children can grow in their faith while building lasting friendships.
Every other Saturday, children gather at St. Frances X. Cabrini chapel to play and share together. At the beginning of each gathering, the Pastoral ministry team prepares a range of engaging activities designed to help the kids enjoy the company of each other, and to learn the values of teamwork and friendship. These activities are both educational and entertaining, ensuring that the kids are not only learning but also having fun.
After playing, children share snacks, and then gather in the chapel to reflect and share about stories from the Bible and role models in the Church. Recently, children started reading the story of Mother Cabrini, and were engaged in wonderful discussions.
The atmosphere is lively, and the children participate eagerly in both the discussions and the games. The number of participants has increased every Saturday, and it is heartwarming to see the children forming bonds with one another.
As the ministry continues to develop, the team is planning more events and activities to further engage the children and deepen their understanding of faith, so as to create an inclusive space where every child feels valued and loved.
The recent turnout and the positive response from both children and parents who usually send them to us have been so encouraging. The ministry is committed to continue fostering a sense of community and spiritual growth among the young members of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini church.
