A year of hope

Taking advantage of the Christmas season, on December 30th our sisters in Uganda celebrated with a family the wonders that God performs in the lives of those who love him.

For four years we have accompanied Paska and Sunday through their struggles, illnesses, joys, victories, and a family with five children, and we can see how much these parents love their children and dedicate their lives to making them good children and Christians.

The family of Paska and Sunday

Paska and Sunday with their five children

Paska has been struggling with a skin disease that has no cure, her daily life has been a continuous going to and from the hospital, doctors, medicines, trips, pain, etc. Finally, after three years of treatment, the doctors found the right medicine, and Paska now has a normal life without skin sores and pain. She is a woman who believes that her faith will heal her.

In 2024, Paska became pregnant with her fifth child. In the seventh month of pregnancy, she began to bleed and had to have an emergency c-section. It was a time of uncertainty for this family. She was taken to the local hospital for surgery, but to everyone's surprise, there was no room in the neonatal intensive care unit, and the hospital management sent mother and child, who was named Joseph, home.

When we went to visit them, the child was the size of a hand and weighed 400 grams, and we thought he would not survive.

We are witnesses to the fact that Paska forgot about herself, her illness and her pain, and dedicated herself to caring for little Joseph. We realize that the miracle of life happened thanks to the intense love of his parents and siblings: now little Joseph is three months old, weighing 5,400 grams, and received the sacrament of baptism on Christmas Eve.

We invited this family to celebrate Christmas with us. We prepared a prayer thanking God for the miracle of Joseph's life and for all the blessings he received during the year 2024. We shared a delicious meal with the family, and we played and danced with the children.

It was a day of joy, gratitude and hope for a Happy New Year.
